We just got back from a 9-night stay at a local campground. While we were there, I got to begin working on my “Tailgate Flowerbed”. I’ve been wanting to make a flowerbed on the tailgate of The Little Teardrop, for a long time.
ChefOnWheels built me a white picket fence for the tailgate, a few years ago. I put a few things inside the fence, at that time. But, it didn’t make it through all the times it was put together and taken down… so, we scrapped that idea and started over.
All varieties and colors of Sunflowers and Daisies, are my favorite flowers. So, naturally, Sunflowers and Daisies ended caught my eye… and ended-up in the flowerbed.I had purchased some of these decorations, a few weeks ago. Then, I bought some more on Monday. It sure was nice, seeing the flowers in front of the trailer, every time we came back to the campsite.I am planning to put something on top of the tailgate, itself… ChefOnWheels suggested a couple of “Astro-turf Welcome Mats”. That may be exactly what I use. I am also planning a solar light or two, as an addition in the future. We will probably insert the lights into flower pots, with concrete (and dirt on the top). I’ll be sure to take pictures of future flowerbed additions, and share them with you.
I have a plastic tote, along with lots of tissue paper and bubble wrap, suitable for packing away my entire flower bed… and my kitchen breakables fit in there, too. It sets in the teardrop, between trips.
